7 Relmar - Contemporary Living

This time, M.Q. is profiling a hidden gem in Forest Hill, Toronto

Picture

Cruising down midtown, as we turned the corner onto Relmar Road, "Wow".

Invited by Victor Lee and the builder, I spent an afternoon at 7 Relmar to really feel the lifestyle inside this piece of art,
to hear the story behind it.
What really impressed me was as if
I entered a different world.
For a sec, it felt like I've found the hidden gem.

Unlike the previous episode, in this episode I will try my best to show you around the building just like how I was showed then.

Entrance and Garage

There are two garages, with one linked right to the private road at the back. As I was walking from the garage to home through the brick way with plants on both sides, it immediately sucked me into this whole new contemporary world that's so different from outside. Oh, by the way, all brick ways both front and back are heated, so no snow shovelling is needed!

Living Room

Opening those gigantic sliding doors, and... you see this!
20 feet ceiling living room.

All the roof glasses are designed in a way that the building will get sun light at any given time during the day

Basement

All furnished basement with a gym and steam room. Take a good steam after working out? sounds good to me! The wine cellar is also a nice touch.

Study overseeing living room and the backyard

We are designing it as a turn-key project, which not much furniture needs to be purchased.
Just like the built-in study desk and book shelves.

The Master Bedroom

The whole third floor is for the master bed and bath.

For those who care about the Earth

I was very impressed that the whole building emphasizes on green energy. It has the triple glazed European glass door all around to save energy. And more impressively, it has a green roof.
What is a green roof?
A green roof or living roof is a roof of a building that is covered with vegetation and a growing medium, planted over a waterproof membrane. They serve several purposes such as absorbing rainwater, providing insulation to preserve heat.
That actually reminded me of the 2 World Trade Centre design of stacked roof gardens.

Game changer with alternative condo concept
This building was developed by the Mazenga Group and I had the honour to meet with Erik who is the director of construction.
We talked about the lifestyle the building is conveying and the mindset behind Mazenga.

"It took us about 18 months to complete this project and we are really paying attention to details, and trying to think from the owner's perspective, where they might need this here and there."

When asked about what differentiates Mazenga, Erik said "everyone is 35 under, we are the game changers. This is one of the alternative condo concept that we created."
