Sashiko - The Art of Mending Fabric

I ripped my jeans today. If it was 5 years ago, I would've just donate it and buy a new one.

But now, I try to save it. Also it's because it's my favourite pair of jeans.

I remember I saw the Sashiko technique in the Martha Stewart's book (super useful book by the way). So let's talk about Sashiko.

It is a Japanese style embroidery. It can be used as decoratives for the fabric, or a fabric patch. But rather than hiding the fact that it's a patch to mend the fabric, why don't we celebrate it and make the threads visible! It adds style and character to the clothes, while serving the mending purpose.

Here's a great piece on how to do denim sashiko: https://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-sashiko-boro-denim-repair/

I ordered my sashiko kit, with needles, sashiko threads and fabric. Let's see how it turns out!
