I've been reading Austin Kleon's books. "Steal Like An Artist" is his latest book, which talks about how to be creative.
10 points laid out in the book:
Steal like an artist
Don't wait until you know who you are to get started
Write the book you want to read
Use your hands
Side projects and hobbies are important
The secret: Do good work and share it with people
Geography is no longer our master
Be Nice (The world is a small town)
Be boring (It's the only way to get work done)
Creativity is subtraction
What resonate with me the most is "Be nice" and "Steal like an artist". Ideas can be copied, but with different people, the delivery will be different. Add your personal spin to an idea is more important. And you should always be nice to people, the world is much smaller than you think. I believe in good karma :)
